The Sri Petaling LRT station is a light rapid transit (LRT) station in Bukit Jalil, and serves both Bukit Jalil and Sri Petaling, a suburb about 20 km south of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. Opened on 11 July 1998, the station is among the first 7 of 11 stops of the former STAR LRT line project's Phase 2 to begin operation, extending the original Phase 1 route south from Chan Sow Lin with a new branch line terminating at Sri Petaling station.
Despite its name, the station is not physically located within the boundaries of the township of Sri Petaling and is connected to the town via a road and flyover over the Shah Alam Expressway.
Like the neighbouring Bukit Jalil station, the Sri Petaling LRT station was planned in preparation for and opened in commemoration of the 1998 Commonwealth Games. Originally named Komanwel station[1] ("Commonwealth" spelled in Malay), the station served as the rail connection between the Commonwealth Games Athletes Village (now known as the Vista Komanwel condominium complex) and the National Sports Complex via Sukan Negara station (present day Bukit Jalil station).
The station is the namesake of the LRT line and served as the southern terminus of the line since its opening in 1998. The station remained the southern terminus until 30 June 2016, when the Sri Petaling line extension project was completed, extending the line to its current terminus at Putra Heights where it meets the LRT Kelana Jaya Line.
In addition to Vista Komanwel, the IMU University is within walking distance of the station.
